The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with representatives from Anglo American, Los Condes Copper and Rio Tinto. The conversation will be moderated by Vivienne Artz, CEO of FTSE Women Leaders and will be followed by a Q&A.
Date: Wednesday 18 June 12:30 – 14:00 (London, UK) |
The launch of the 2025 FTSE Women Leaders Review report took place in February. This annual review of the FTSE 350 and the UK’s 50 largest private companies is focused on improving the representation of women on boards and in leadership roles. Since the Review began in 2011, voluntary targets have been set and then increased as they are met to drive increased representation of women on boards and in leadership. Currently, the target is 40% women’s representation by the end of 2025.
As mining is one of the sectors featured, we pay close attention to this report each year. The 9 companies that are part of the FTSE 350 currently include: Anglo American, Antofagasta Minerals, Endeavour Mining, Ferrexpo, FRESNILLO, Glencore, Hill & Smith, Hochschild Mining and Rio Tinto. The Weir Group is also in the report under Industrial Goods & Services.
Results from this year’s report show that the sector rankings for basic resource industries show an average of:
Since 2011, when basic resources ranked at the bottom for women on boards, it’s encouraging to see the industry now moving into the middle rankings. However, mining still remains second from the bottom for women in leadership roles. Positively, Endeavour ranks #1 for progress in increasing women in leadership positions across FTSE 100 companies, while Rio Tinto ranks #4 for the most progress in increasing women on boards year on year. Weir Group also shows progress on the leadership percentage.
